Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Middawn is named because of the time she emerges from her cave. She comes out in the sheer darkness about an hour before dawn and stays until the Sun's rays come back again. Middawn doesn't like to emerge earlier in the night, for she is afraid the Dark Creatures that drove her into madness will come for her. The Dark Creatures live in the unexplored parts of the forest that surround her cave. Their true form is unknown. When she was younger she came in contact with them and they attacked her. She fled back to her cave, only to find their hissing voices still ringing in her ears. Sometimes she hears the voices again in her thoughts which cause her to panic and expose herself to dangers. However, she is a strong predator because of her great skills; she only needs an hour to hunt. When not hunting in the forest, she is in her dark cave. Nobody knows what she does in the privacy of her den because any who trespass are sure to be eaten; she's very protective.
