Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Robbed of her dignity and honor long ago in the battle that also cost her an eye, Anathema remains a surly and bitter Black dragon who lives on the outskirts of the cave's territory. Preferring her solitude to the irritating company of the other dragons, Anathema does not appreciate being approached, particularly on her blind side.

She is sometimes seen in the company of Jinx, another Black whose plight of being misunderstood and rejected by the clan she can sympathize with. Unfortunately, Anathema has yet to realize that her outcast status is entirely self-imposed, and she would be accepted among her fellows if she did not present such an unwelcoming facade.
