Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
Aegina is destined to forever remain in hatchling form, as a result of over-attention from her masculine peers. Forceful in their affections, they injured her spine enough to stunt her growth permanently. She never let this unfortunate accident deter her from living a full life, taking advantage of her smaller form to cause trouble, as she can frequently sneak into places unnoticed.
