Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. You find it odd that the hatchling doesn’t move at all during the day, but at night its colors change and it is full of energy.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Only active during the night, Nico Notturno finds it difficult to play with his fellow hatchlings, who tire themselves out during the daylight. Thus he is lucky to have a few friends that are either too energetic for their own good, or get up late so they include him in their games. He is grateful for that and would do about anything for them. Despite his small circle of friends, Nico is a very outgoing dragon who makes conversation easily.

His best friend is the frozen whiptail hatchling Fritz Blitz, whom he trusts with his life. When Nico is with Fritz, they fool around a lot, and he likes to think that there isn't a better friend out there for him. Sometimes, they join Aiko and Lila, who usually play catch and do acrobatics. Aiko is the official leader of their little hatchling group.
