Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Isabel Seraphina is a paradox of her own, even in her very name, "royal poor"- her kind is generally dark and vicious and pompous, but Isabel is humble and frugal. Isabel was found abandoned by her master, and grew up as a shy hatchling who loved to draw in the dirt. Then kind Aelis gave her some rainbow soil from Eden's Garden of Eve, where everything defies Nature, and Isabel transferring to a variety of artistic mediums. Isabel will do comissions for any dragon, in exchange for nothing but a good meal and a chat. Isabel is just as shy as she was as a hatchling; Isabel spends most days working on her art in her studio in the corner of the cave. Lord of the Dreaming particularly likes her works, and Isabel will secretly admire Idoya Desideria's singing from a distance which inspires her to make strangely beautiful pieces.
