Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gilgacrasher likes listening to things. She listens to the rain falling, to the wind blowing, to the leaves rustling. She listens to the ground growling softly, to the heart of trees beating slowly, to sunrays laughing. She listens to things others won't hear. And sometimes, she will dance; she will dance along the beats and rhythms she feels streaming through her body, she will raise and lower her frill like riding on a wave, stomp her feet, move her tail, seemingly forgetting time and space. Towards the other dragons she behaves in a friendly way, and likewise they treat her with kindness, but one gets the impression that she neither really belongs to their reality, nor is interested to be part of it.
