Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

In the heart of a huge volcano, one red egg floated in the bubbling and splashing magma. Perhaps it was the intense heat that made a few cracks form on the surface of this egg But then a small claw poked out, followed by a tiny, fanged head, a slender body, and a long spiked tail. It paddled happily along in the magma, heedless of the intense heat, and promptly emitted a small flame. Then, a menacing rumbling started up far beneath the tiny dragon. It thrashed wildly about, sensing what was about to happen. Suddenly, the hatchling was pushed forcefully up, and launched into the sky. It tumbled through the branches of a tree in the nearby forest, where it lay limp, draped across the lowest branch. After the dragons of cave Ember found it, they took it in and Ezarana managed to save the half-dead dragon. As she grew up, Ashfyre has been hostile to all the dragons, except Shurikai. She snaps at the hatchlings, and growls at the elders, so dragons mostly leave her alone.
