Sunrise Dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise Dragons prefer to live in large groups and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Jozard lived a pretty average life for a dragon. That is, until he met the Sandman. Asleep at night, hugging his pine needle pillow tight, Jozard dreamed of a dragon made of sand. The dragon in his dream did not say a word to him, just grinned, flicked a pinch of sand in the poor sunrise's eyes, and fled. From that night on, Jozard had increasingly strange dreams, most of them too abstract to interpret. He dreamed of great dragon wars, tricky liars, and the burning flame of red dragon fire. More than once he was chased into a strange never-changing land by hoards of biting pygmies. Only the sun peeking its head above the horizon could wake Jozard up, and as time gone on this has become more and more ineffective. Jozard is oddly unconcerned about his predicament. He says he loves the dreams, as they are very entertaining, but deep down inside he is terrified because he just can't wake up.
