Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It sleeps a lot, but when it’s awake, it’s quite a handful.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Oni giri is a hungry little guy who is constantly on the lookout for a snack.  His favorite food is rice balls with pickled plums inside because that's what his guardian, Uzumaki-sama, always made him for breakfast when he was tiny and newly-hatched.  Oni giri's best friend is a Thunder dragon named Lu mai.  Lu mai is always scheming and planning crazy adventures, and although Oni giri is usually a quiet stay-at-home kind of dragon, he often goes on these adventures with his friend because Lu mai always finds him the most delicious treats to eat as a reward.
