Flamingo Wyverns are so named for their resemblance to the tropical birds with whom they often share territory. Their most striking feature is the bony black crest over their faces and snouts, larger in males, aiding both in digging up food and protection when fighting for mates. Males are duller in color than females due to their habit of wandering from nest to nest and picking from less algae-rich feeding grounds.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

There once existed a particularly large flock of flamingo wyverns. Noisy and aggressive, the pack defended both their territory and their young vigorously, and any human that tried to claim their land as their own soon regretted it.

That all changed, however, when a pioneering man named Nistrodus arrived. Greedy for the fertile lands over which the beasts presided, he led the locals in a highly effective extermination campaign against the wyverns--but that wasn't enough to sate him. Determined to prevent the flock from ever returning, he captured a young wyvern hatchling and locked him in a cage, planning to starve him to death and then transform his corpse into a zombie, a grim reminder for the others to stay away.

His plan nearly succeeded... but then Azisi arrived. A gentle soulpeace hatchling, she found the wyvern on the edge of the death, and used her magic to free him. Grateful, the wyvern vowed to stay by her forever... and, as they're now mates, one might say he succeeded!
