Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Unlike the other hatchlings, this one hatched with wings.

And look! Its back legs have become a second set of wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Oullis's parents only wanted the best for him in life and constantly encouraged him to be apprenticed to this or that dragon to learn such and such craft if he showed even the slightest interest in anything. One day he was watching an ice-cutter cut ice when he fell into the river and got frozen as a hatchling, therefore he will never be anything but frozen. His parents are most displeased.
