As the nocturnal relative to Sunbeam Drakes, Moonglow Drakes are a secretive breed most active under the light of the moons and stars. They are wary of others, but are known to have incredible loyalty should their trust be won. Catching sight of Moonglow Drakes as they dance amid the moonlight is seen as a favorable omen by those they live near, and tamed individuals are common. They are slightly smaller than their cousins, averaging around the size of a cat.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Pietersite of the Gems was raised in the Mountains of Elgar by the human dragon guardian named Flight. Before her wings grew in, Pietersite often rode on top of her White dragon "brother", Lenimen, peering over his wings shyly while Flight sat behind her. As a cave born dragon, Pietersite was unsure of what her calling would be; being a shy dragon she never liked it when her older dragon siblings, all raised by Flight, asked her about what she thought her calling would be. It wasn't until one day, while riding on Lenimen's back with Flight behind her, that Pietersite discovered a gemstone of swirling brown, blue, and a rustic red color, lying in one of the oldest caves in the Mountains of Elgar. The gemstone, also named Pietersite, became the Night Glory Drake's prized possession, and she loves to look for more of the beautiful gem. Now a full grown dragon, Pietersite of the Gems lives in the same cave where she first found her beloved gemstone, which she keeps with her at all times.
