Ochredrakes are a curious species with a wide array of mutations and interesting behaviors. Not as intelligent as normal dragons, they only breed with other drake species. While they may not be bright, ochredrakes are flamboyant and fun-loving with amazing, chirping voices to sing with, and tame readily in the presence of a gentle hand.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Tamotsu is one of the many sons of Kentaro and Kiyomi. His name means "To Protect" in  Japanese. He's a funny little drake. He thinks that he's much bigger, and much fiercer than he actually is. He enjoys "helping" the dragons who protect the colony. In actuality, he sometimes makes their job harder, since they have to worry about crushing the small drake bouncing around their feet. The dragons never complain though, Tamotsu has a good heart, even if his head isn't too bright. He also enjoys helping the colony's human, Remy, by catching all the moles that dare venture into her garden. That's one task that he's actually really good at. Like all the drakes, Tamotsu lives in Remy's cottage. It's nice and warm in there, and the company is great. He and his mate, Saika, sleep curled up together by Remy's feet every night. They love spending time together, and are one of the cheeriest couples in the colony. Tamotsu loves to chase fireflies with Saika, and to dance with her in the fields.
