Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A dark and beautiful dragoness, Nyx is a descendant of the Nightmother Clan, known for producing females who often go on to become the Matron of the Ebony Coven. Males of the Nightmother Clan are, sadly, often left out to die of exposure. By a happy accident, Nyx's egg was spirited away, and with it her future as a member of the draconic cult.

Still a powerful sorceress in her own right, Nyx flourished into a strong, quiet, but just and caring member of her adoptive family. It was here that she was raised with one of her future mates, a white dragon by the name of Asclepius, and she bore him a son. She is particular about her mates, but considers all who are chosen by her hatcher to be family.
