Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s kind of shaky on its feet and enjoys playing in puddles.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

NarcissisticWaterHorse is a Waterhorse Dragon hatchling who is very full of herself. Her mother, BitterWaterHorse, is a bigot and feels that Waterhorses should only breed with other Waterhorses. So NarcissisticWaterHorse isn't allowed to play with her only slightly older uncle, StrongWaterHorse, or her cousin, SilveryWaterHorse, because they each have a non-Waterhorse parent. Not that NarcissisticWaterHorse would ever want to play with them, since they are so beneath her in social class. Actually, she doesn't play with any of the hatchlings of her cave, and she has no friends her age. Instead she follows her mother around, and only socializes with purebred Waterhorse Dragon hatchlings from other caves and their parents.
