Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It likes to chase fish in shallow water.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

A playful little creature, this male can often be spotted scampering along beaches, hunting for treasure. While most would assume the 'treasures' of a hatchling are no more than bits of shiny glass or pretty shells, those who watch him will be quite surprised to find that his treasures are treasures indeed--he has a keen eye for sniffing out coins and bits of gold washed up from sunken ships. Those treasures he does collect are then brought home as presents to his mommy, a very beautiful Gold dragon; some say it was her shining scales that inspired him to hunt for treasure in the first place!

When not busy searching for gold, he can often be seen playing with another young hatchling named Donabre.
