Stone Dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Thalara Greystone has grown up in the mountains. As a child she was considered restless by the other stone dragons, although anyone else would have hardly noticed the difference. Yet she moved more often: sometimes her tail swung from the left to the right and sometimes she turned her head an inch or so. That is why her clan eventually told her to leave and Thalara, too heavy to use her massive stone wings, crossed the mountains, spending years doing so. <br/>When Thalara reached the other end of the mountain, she suddenly discovered a stone dragon, completely inanimate, sitting on a pile of rocks, staring at her without blinking. Thalara immediately fell in love with him for reasons she still cannot explain, but as if she suddenly felt a rest within her that she never felt before she positioned herself next to the male dragon, looking at him and adopting a state so calm as she has never managed to display before, hoping that one day he will return the affection she feels for him.
