Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This young hatchling stands in front of the Kes Clan cave with a large welcome sign taped to their head. As a stranger walks in to take a peek the hatchling squeaks a shrill "Welcome to Karin Kes' Clan!" and falls mute once more. Occasionally the hatchling is allowed a short break, but a fifteen minute lunch and that's it. Sometimes nice visitors hand the little one a glass of water.
