Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has brightly colored fins on its back.

And look! It has grown larger fins! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Baasho is very much like Dunmore in more ways than just being a Dorsal. When he matured, he was named Baasho and was pretty much dumped in Dunmore's hands to be raised as the older one wished. Baasho was at first upset by this and protested to Dunmore about it at times, which used to be once a day every day. Dunmore only replied that they just couldn't do anything about it and that resenting the other dragons wouldn't do anything to help. Slowly Baasho grew to accept and now follows his adopted father's lead and mimics him so that they appear like two peas in a pod and both are quite content as just a duo.
