Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Flight Of The Vengeful Spirit, like Scion Of The Corpse God, is burdened with an unfortunate name; in this case, sharing the name of an arch-traitor's flagship, the Vengeful Spirit. Due to the long lifespans of dragons, he remembers a time when the Warmaster Horus, whose ship it was, loyally fought on the side of the Imperium for his father the Emperor. He was once high in the pecking order, enjoying much glory, but has since fallen from grace and is amongst the lowest of the Imperial Dragons. Nevertheless, he keeps his word and stays loyal, no matter what others say.
