Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Magel is named after the Galaxy he has chosen to study and change his patterns to: the Large Magellanic Cloud. Even though it is not a Nebula, Magel refuses to change his patterns to that of one of the Nebulas, as he likes being unique with his Galaxy patterns. He will spend most nights watching the heavens, but on cloudy nights he will doze, occasionally waking himself to check if the clouds have parted enough for him to be able to watch his Galaxy for a while. Magel is a very friendly Nebula Dragon, and can often be found soaring above the cloud cover at night with Dragons from any other species, playing games of tag and chase. He is also a very lazy Nebula Dragon; he is quite capable of defending himself when necessary, but he prefers to let others do all the hard work whilst he sits and gazes at the stars or sleeps.
