Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. This hatchling seems to be filled with a fell, inner flame.

And look! Its wings have grown, and it’s become rather vicious and wary of others of its kind.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Although young in looks, Spit Fier is, in fact, the oldest of all the hatchlings ever listed upon this particular scroll, and perhaps older than a few of the adults as well. Due to a Freeze spell, he does not age, and as a result simply aids in keeping safety and order over the eggs and hatchlings. This does include his constant surveillance over the young, and it isn't unheard of to see an occasional spout of small flame to warn the most rowdy of the bunch who tussle too close to the precious eggs.
