Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Verwaith is the unintentional loaner of the group. He just cannot seem to pull himself away from the latest "crisis", whether it is an overly inquisitive animal nearby, a marauding band of invaders, or a lightning-struck tree threatening to topple onto the cottage of an elderly woman in the nearest village. There is so much to do, but so little time to do it. It is not glory he seeks, it is simply an unending desire to do the job at hand, sometimes to the point of exhaustion. Since he usually works at night and is therefore unseen, some of the locals are convinced they have an angel for a neighbor. If they knew the truth, there is no telling how they might react.
