Deep Sea Dragons, as their name suggests, spend most of their time in the darkest depths of the sea. They have a bioluminescent dorsal spine that serves to attract prey and communicate with their own kind. As with many deep sea animals, they generally eat whatever they can manage to bait. They rarely leave the ocean floor, surfacing only during breeding season. When they do choose to travel to the shallower depths, they avoid bright lights and will only come up far away from shore.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

One day, a young girl named Rish found a large rock that had washed up on shore. It had a pattern on it like scales. Rish found it a very beautiful rock, so she took out her pocketknife and carved an R into it. When she did, the rock shivered. Shocked, she dropped it onto the soft sand and fled. The rock, which turned out to be an egg, now had that little girl imprinted into its memory. The waves washed the egg back into the ocean, where it hatched. When the dragon inside of it hatched, it had the odd urge to find Rish. As it grew, so did the urge. The urge grew so strong that the dragon HAD to find the girl. It rose to the surface of the water to come face-to-face with Mad2022's young dragon, Chiku. Chiku let out a loud, fearful shriek. Mad1022 saw the dragon and found an R-shaped scar on the back of its fin, so she named it Rayshu. The urge disappeared when he was claimed...almost. He still longs to find the strange little girl...
