Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Verilium is a female Bronze Tinsel dragon. She pursues a magic that is often forgotten about or dismissed as a mere mixing of chemicals, for she is an alchemist. Veriliim discovered a metal similar to quicksilver, except that it is a bronze colour and is not poisonous to dragons. She has named herself after this metal, which she calls 'Verilium'.

  Verilium resides in a three-roomed cave that her mate, a Red dragon called Crimson Fella, has dung out in a hill. Inside is a room for relaxing, a room devoted to alchemy and a room for sleeping in. Verilium lives with her mate, though she is often preoccupied with her experiments. The pair both love fish, which Crimson Fella usually catches and cooks.

  Unusual but happy, Verilium loves her mate and children. She dreams of one day discovering a metal that cannot be melted by any dragons' fire.
