Ultraviolet Dragons are a heat-loving breed that are most commonly found in hot, arid environments. These hardy dragons are omnivorous and will eat both plant and animal matter, even species with thorny physical defenses such as cacti. They are generally peaceful and often quite friendly, but males will become aggressive and cantankerous during the breeding season. Intense fights take place over females, sometimes resulting in injury for both combatants.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When Chochiku was a hatchling, she was quite particular about the objects she kept in her hoard. She would only ever scavenge for objects that were warm to the touch, often including completely normal stones that had just been sitting out in the sun for a while. At the time, she didn't understand why the stones would become cold. Now that she's matured, her hoard tends to be comprised of fire mana crystals and the occasional interestingly shaped lava rock. Chochiku likes being able to nap in a cavern that is just as warm as a sunny patch of sand, and will often let members of her family camp out in the living area if they bring her more crystals for the hoard.
