Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Most dragons think Albus to be a nice, friendly old dragon. The kind teacher everyone would wish for and a powerful protector of the young and helpless. All that is true but it's not all there is to this old magi.

Albus in his youth had found and lost love in Grindlewald—a powerful and beautiful magi dragon. Sadly though Grindlewald's soul wasn't as beautiful as his body and although he requited Albus's feelings he also used the other one, manipulated him to help him with his political goals. When Albus discovered the truth, he stood against his lover and fought for what he believed in. But Albus never recovered from that broken heart, living his life without allowing himself another emotional connection as deep as that ever again.

In his old age Albus now uses other dragons to further his own—albeit altruistic—goals, even manipulating friends, becoming more like Grindlewald than anyone would think of the seemingly absent-minded dragon.
