Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It was born with a full set of wings.

And look! Its wings have grown larger! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This young dragon had a great and promising future ahead of him. Heir of a very noble line of silver and ridgewing dragons, fame and fortune seemed surely within his grasp, the thought of his adult life thrilling him to the core... and then... and THEN--

She froze him! She froze him--she, that stinking stupid excuse for a sorceress who always hung about the premises acting like she owned the place! When the shrieking youngster confronted her about it, she said it was because she just didn't have a perfect wife in mind for him. Needless to say this only drove the tiny dragon all the more mad and ended with the witch fleeing, her ankles well marked with tiny teeth marks.

Since that day, the little prince has been working tirelessly to find a cure for his curse, and never forgotten who did it to him. Indeed, he's picked out a very lovely (read: extremely unpleasant) corner of his dungeons just for her, should his guards ever set paw on her again.
