Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It seems to enjoy sunbathing.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Despite his forever young age, Mako is very caring, considerate and would prefer to keep an eye out for the other hatchlings rather than joining them in play. Because of this and his big size, the young ones like to see him as their 'sweet big brother'. On the downside, though, Mako is weak-hearted and gets scared easily. At night, he sneaks into the scroll owner's house because he dislikes the dark night, and as a result, she has grown to become quite fond him. Other than doing his 'big brotherly acts', he enjoys swimming by lying on his back to absorb the sun's luxurious rays and using his strong wings to slowly propel him around.
