Caligene Dragons have long been considered omens of death—reinforced by the skeletal markings on their bodies. They exert a malignant force on the world around them, causing other living things to slowly waste away in their presence. Caligenes favor the seasons of summer and autumn, disappearing entirely from the forests they inhabit during winter and spring. These malevolent dragons are physically weak, though this is countered by their natural stealthiness and alarming speed—enabling them to close in on large targets quickly and silently to create ambushes from which prey cannot escape.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Despite his creepy looks and eerie movements, Agares is actually a fairly kind though tepid dragon. He relies on the powerful magic of his friends, Samigina and Foras, to subdue his natural ability to corrode anything that comes in contact with him. This way, he can safely interact with the other members of his group. He is a very reserved and quiet dragon, rarely speaking out unless directly addressed. He bears no ill will toward others, not unless he finds some reason to dislike them. In such cases, the normally peaceful Agares becomes quite nasty. He'll often stalk those he particularly distrusts, following them from the shadows. The only reason he'd go to this length, however, is if he believed someone were an active threat to himself or his group. He is highly protective of those he deems friends, even the ones that may annoy him half to death. He believes in sticking to a team and defending them however he can. Since he isn't a fighter, he uses his speed and stealth instead.
