And look! It has grown much bigger! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Foolish Sage doesn't like her name. Humans and dragons who meet her invariably comment on what an oxymoron she is. This infuriates Sage; she's not a moron, and she knows it, and everyone who says that is stupid. No matter how many times it is explained to her that that's not what people mean when they say "oxymoron", she refuses to listen. She knows quite well what "moron" means, thank you very much, and it doesn't matter what other letters you stick in front of it. Sage is a temperamental, sulky hatchling who often runs away when things don't go the way she wants. Of course, the funny thing is that by refusing to listen, running away, and insisting she's right, she is acting like the very contradiction she carries in her name: a supposedly wise person who is not really wise at all.
