Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Doting Hopeful, or "Dotie" as others affectionately call her, is the darling of the Caves of Twilight. She is always around to help other dragons with rearing the young and tending the eggs that the Prophet brings into the caves. When an egg or hatchling falls ill, she is the first to rush to the Prophet's side to inform her. Many young lives were saved because of Dotie's dedication to their protection.

One brisk February morning, Dotie was going for a walk outside the cave she calls home. The trees were covered in a beautiful frost that sparkled in the early morning light. She didn't notice, however. Her attention was drawn by the intoxicating aroma of chocolate that filled the air. Curious, the young dragoness followed the scent. Imagine her surprise when she came across Dashing Chocolate Prince, a Heartseeker! He was busy matchmaking a young pair of wyverns, but he soon found his attention drawn to her. It was love at first sight.
