And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Whisperwill is a dedicated studier of the art of pumpkin carving. She selects only the perfectly shaped rocks as tools, the brightest, most spotless pumpkin... and then violently carves the poor veggie's guts out before she inscribes her art. Like her father, she exudes a faint aura at night, and if no flame is available she will curl up inside the pumpkin herself to light it. She enjoys leaping out of the pumpkin whenever would-be pumpkin smashers approach, scaring them witless and thus preserving not only the artwork of others, but also her own.
