It’s an undead baby dragon, produced by a failed magical spell. It probably would be cute if it weren’t partially decayed.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

It was a dark night, the wind whipping through the streets, freezing every innocent dragon to the bone. Many decided to stay inside their caves that night, but not Xavier, unfortunately for him.

Stumbling along the road, his legs began to lock up, and he could no longer feel his tail, wings, or toes. After an hour of going on like this, the poor hatchling collapsed on the ground, unable to move any further.

The next morning, there was no mercy to the nearly-dead hatchling, as he was finally killed when a young boy trampled him with his horse, laughing as Xavier's blood spilled. A few days later, a human girl noticed him laying there, and picked him up out of sympathy.

She urged her magi to bring him back to life, but the spell failed, yet the dragon moved. The girl began to cry, saddened to see the hatchling in such a condition.

Unlike the other zombies, Xavier does have a soul, even if it is artificial. He lives to love and gets along somewhat well with the others.
