Prismanic Amphipteres are radiant creatures that dwell in the upper reaches of volcanic skies, their iridescent scales refracting the light into shimmering prisms of color. Their sleek, serpentine bodies absorb heat from their surroundings, conducting the energy to breathe out brilliantly hot flames. The radiant white flames, when reflected strongly off of their dazzling scales and feathers, turn a diving Prismanic into a prismatic blinding ball of light that can disorient would-be attackers. These dragons can be fiercely territorial, fighting fiery duels over control of the hottest and most active volcanos. The fireballs they breathe, when not hurled in aggression, can take complex patterns that may communicate territory, readiness to mate, or perhaps even artistic expression.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation.
