Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

As a Guardian dragon, Losara lives up to that name, guarding her family's cave from intruders, real or imagined. Before Losara hatched, her egg always seemed to be in front of the others, and after she hatched she continued to protect the other hatchlings, pulling them back when they got too close to the cave's entrance and preventing them from flying too high after their wings grew. She also stayed close to CloudFlare, Kelarine, PearlWave and Fierozasion's eggs, preventing the other hatchlings from breaking or damaging them in any way. Now she spends most of her time flying rounds or standing guard outside. Though she does join in family meetings, she is a dragon of few words and only speaks when spoken to or gives solutions to problems that none of the others can solve. She also stands guard over the new eggs-—preventing Rose Satin from damaging them.
