Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. The flame on its tail casts a flickering light.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

As her daddy's little darling, this little magelight pygmy is always avoiding punishment for the mischief she causes. He believes all her excuses:

It really wasn't her fault that the fine lady's wig caught on fire; the lady should not have set Nommefalde on her shoulder and her tail just happened to swing up for balance.

She was really hungry and the chewed curtain had a design on it that she mistook for berries on a real bush (never mind that it was chewed much more than one bite's worth).

She was not just running amok, she was chasing a mouse away and did not notice the obstacles she knocked over while focused on the rodent. After all, no one wants pesky rodents about. There are none now, so obviously she was successful!

Everyone else sees through her stories, but her daddy takes every word from his darling daughter as truth.
