Sunrise Dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise Dragons prefer to live in large groups and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Arshalouys is not an artist—he can't craft the beauty of a sunrise in pigments or words. But he appreciates it, waking up just at the time his breed is named for to watch the colors spread across the sky and blend into one another. This modest dragon has an eye for beautiful things, but he has neither the talent nor the confidence to share his works of beauty—he would never have the courage to present a piece of his own imagination to anyone.

There's someone he loves, though he's too shy to admit it: Xeiv. He saw her once when he had gotten up early. He fell in love with her sad eyes and her wistful staring at the coming sun. But each morning, she is stone before he can do more than glimpse her—she haunts him, in his reach only as a mute statue. He wonders what he would say if he could reach her, if anything at all. Like the sunrise, she is a beauty he has neither the talent nor courage to catch, but loves all the same.
