Stone Dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Medalion had been found on a recruiting mission. The cave's scouts had been sent out to gather eggs for an army from the desert and other Biomes and Medalion's egg just happened to be one of those. He was hatched, raised, and trained for battle. His stone-like scales act as armor in battle, so he needs none. He is mainly used as a shield for other dragons. Yes, it's a bit cruel using the Stones as shields, but whatever the enemy decides to throw at them just hits the Stone dragons and doesn't hurt them, no matter what it is. Medalion was trained for this by having things such as huge boulders thrown at him and trying to keep his balance. If a Stone looses his balance in battle, it's like part of a city wall being knocked down and the dragons inside are vulnerable. Medalion is one of the best Stone dragon shields on the team though. He is tough, stable, strong, and brave.
