Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Auroramora is calm, reserved, and normally very quiet. But she suffers one singular personality quirk—a terrible fear of thunderstorms. When Cleod unleashes his rage in the skies above the cave, she flees in abject terror and cringes in the back of the cave, crying shrilly and lashing out at any who approach her.

This strange, unreasoning fear throws the entire pack into tumult, and often the hatchlings will begin wailing as well, more out of sympathy for her than out of any fear of their own. Needless to say, this makes their parents very unhappy.

The pack has tried more than once to help her overcome her fear, but so far unsuccessfully. The one attempt they made to force her to stay outside during a storm resulted in several serious injuries and a rather large pile of dung just outside the cave entrance. It has not been attempted again.
