Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s rather plain looking, though.

And look! It has grown wings, and bright markings have developed all over its body.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Yudoku kaeru is a timid little dragon. He loves to swim, but is very weary of other creatures. If a dragon or a large creature gets too close and startles him, he will use his poison claws in order to paralyze them and run away. Since he is only a hatchling his poison is not powerful enough to kill, only paralyze, which is a very good thing since he uses his poison on completely innocent creatures who are just trying to get a drink from the pool that he likes to swim in.

His name means poison frog.
