Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Suteki loves to fuss over her younger siblings, especially her little sisters. She will prattle happily to them before each multi-clan celebration, insisting on helping the younger dragons groom and accessorize so they can appear their best when visiting with other families. Even though she picks from hundreds of different ornaments and ointments for her siblings to use, Suteki makes it a point to pep-talk the shyer dragons. She firmly believes that confidence and a sincere smile make more difference than all the scale polish and jewelry in the world, and encourages her siblings to first make sure they are enjoying the festivities of the event before they push themselves to socialize.
