When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sherynn's parents lived in the ocean, moving around it like nomads. During a storm little Sherynn was swept away by a strong current that carried her northwards. Finally she found a bay that provided some shelter, and she swam further upriver to find a place to rest. She ended up in a calm lake where the exhausted dragon fell sound asleep. Next morning however, a Guardian hatchling, trying to take a bath, leaped off the shore and landed right on top of Sherynn. Both the shy hatchlings were silent, stunned for several minutes, staring at each other. Neither had seen another dragon so strange, a completely new species. As they stared and stared and daren't speak, something grew between the two.

Shy little Sherynn never found her parents, but it must be said that she didn't really try to. The small yet elegant Water has cast off the nomad's way of life and found her true home. Captivated at first sight by the Guardian Maduinn, she has remained in the loch of clan Shoogle ever since.
