Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its skin is smooth and doesn’t seem to have any color to it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

A Curious Light has always been an adventurous little fellow and at the time, his breed was a curiosity to the dragons of the cave. By the time he grew in his wings and began making short flights, the other dragons had gotten used to his slightly eccentric personality. Although his breed had adapted to being exposed to sunlight, he still preferred the cave and its dragons over any sunny day. Though he asked the cave's keeper something she had never been asked before. Curious wished to have a spell cast on him, freezing his growth, allowing him to remain as a hatchling forever. Some full-grown dragons hatched after him always stare in shock and disbelief whenever he reveals himself to be older than his appearance. He doesn't mind at all being called an oddity, but rather, seems to be amused by others' remarks.
