When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Brave To The End's story is a story filled with heroism, honor, and bravery. Though he now resides quietly in a river in his clan's territory, Brave To The End was once a legendary water dragon who helped protect a castle that sat by a lagoon where he lived. This castle, faithful to a weakening kingdom, was soon turned into the last stand between an invading army and the heartland of the kingdom. The inhabitants of the castle knew they were doomed; outnumbered and outflanked, they could not escape. At last, when attack was imminent, the king of the castle drew a line and asked all who would stay and fight to the death to cross it. All but one man did, and that man was in charge of delivering valuable news of the enemy's army to the king. But there was no way out, until a magnificent serpent rose out of the water, volunteering his services. Brave To The End managed to slip by dozens of sentries, and the information saved the kingdom, even as the castle itself was destroyed.
