White Dragons are pacifists and specialize in extremely strong healing magic. The only limit of this magic is that it can’t bring back the dead. They only eat plants and never kill living things.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gilfrid's name means Oath of Peace. He once had another, but time has erased it.

Gilfrid is a peace dragon, but he once craved war, fighting in the battles between humans and dragons.

Gilfrid had a friend whom he loved deeply. Her name was Alverna.

She loved him, but was scared of his bloodlust. She knew he had a peaceful side, and was afraid he was losing it to the war. She tried to heal him, praying for the madness to stop.

Her prayers came true, but at a high price.

Alverna and Gilfrid were traveling when they were ambushed by Strigoi (dragon-hunters). He killed the Strigoi, but Alverna was fatally wounded in the process.

As she died, she saw his peaceful side, and made him swear to nurture this and kill no more, giving him the name Gilfrid to remind him of this oath.

After Alverna died, Gilfrid kept his promise to her, never killing.

Never loving again.

Alverna had been his true love, and she died because of his choices.

He wouldn't let that happen again, to anyone he cared for.
