When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Depths of Tainted Heart is a water dragon, scales of blue and cream patterning her sinuous form as she dives ever deeper in the water. He mind is as cold as the water she dives towards, calculating and exact. She feels no emotions as remorse or anticipation- she accepts what has happened along with what is to come.<br/>Eyes shine like lanterns as she sinks past- no creature can command the control of the ocean as she does. She streaks downwards, and the light begins to fade; the water turns from a light aqua to a cerulean, then a murky navy, before the light vanishes completely and the dragon is submerged in the lightless water of the deep ocean, her territory, her home, and her sanctuary; it is here she can be alone with her thoughts.<br/>No one is able to follow- the pressure would kill any lesser being, but the dragon pushes further, disappearing into the deadly depths, only the memory of her presence left in her wake- that, and a lingering sense of sorrow...
