And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Tinypawe is one of Phoenix's dragons. He's a quiet but very playful hatchling (his best game is hide-and-seek) who can't fly. He's a little nervous around other dragons, especially those from other caves than the one he and Phoenix's other dragons live in. His wings are much, much too small for him to use, and, being extremely small (he's very undersized—even for a pygmy dragon) he needs some way to get up in the air, so he often rides on Phoenix's shoulder, the place he feels safest.
