Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It looks very sick, as though it wasn’t very well looked after...

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This hatchling was forced out of its egg prematurely.

The little neglected hatchling sneaks into the cave and upon finding a mass of hatchlings tries its best to blend in. The other hatchies see it and soon surround it with warmth and happiness. It had spent many days as an egg cold and forgotten only to have a neglectful person kick its egg, cracking it and freeing it from the shell it was too weak to hatch from. It had thought that it was all alone in the world, but its new friends soon taught it otherwise. Now the little neglected hatchling joins in their games and shares their food, grateful to everyone who helped it.
