Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Unlike her gentle sounding name, Rose Satin is a ferocious and tough dragon. An hour after she hatched, she attacked Duskglider and bit his tail. Seeing potential in the hatchling, Duskglider started training her to be a warrior. Satin looks up to him as her mentor, but doesn't always listen to what he says. She is strong willed and stubborn, and her headstrong nature often gets her into trouble, resulting in the rest of her family rushing to her rescue. A troublemaker, she tries everyones patience except the the Earth dragon Camreth, who is one of the few she can talk to. She has lately taken to bullying hatchlings and even the adult Mint dragon, Kelarine, earning herself some well deserved bruises from Losara. One of the few dragons Rose Satin has not tried to bully is FrostFlyer, Duskglider and Glacioulnesse's son. The reason is not very clear, as she has had several oppurtunities to beat him up while he was a hatchling. He is also a threat to her position as Duskglider's best pupil
